The deep freeze of winter has settled over Door County! Cross country ski trails are groomed, roads are salted, and the lake is making more and more ice each day. It’s a winter wonderland for outdoor adventures and indoor snuggles!

With the frigid temps come the winter festivals! The great festival traditions continue in Door County on February 3rd-5th with the 30th Annual Fish Creek Winter Festival. Located in Clark Park in Fish Creek, the Winter Festival is known for it’s wacky winter-themed games for all ages. There’s a chili cook-off, parade, raffles, live music, and much more! There’s even a big warming tent!

The weekend of February 3rd-5th has much more in store for visitors to the Peninsula! On February 4th, Orchard Country Winery and Door County Maritime Museum are hosting the Winter Wine and Cherry Festival. Stop by Orchard Country Winery from 10 am – 5 pm to sample wine and farm market food, paint your own wine glass, listen to live music, and take a horse drawn sleigh ride! Admission is free!

Winter Carnival in Bailey’s Harbor rounds out the busy weekend. Enjoy the Great Waffle Breakfast at the Ridges Sanctuary, live music, food, winter golf, and farmer’s market. Located through out Bailey’s Harbor February 4th and 5th.

If something a little quieter and more intimate is desired, Newport State Park hosts it’s annual Candlelight Ski and Snowshoe on February 11th. From 5:30 pm until 8:30 pm, ski, hike, or snowshoe and easy 1.2 mile candlelit trail. A bonfire and warm refreshments greet participants at the end of the trail.

The Waterbury Inn is open the weekend of the Winter Festivals, and many others through out the winter. However, we will be closed a some of the weekends to do improvements on the hotel. Please give us a call to check for availability and current specials!
